When I turned 4 or 5 (I can't remember), my parents hired a clown to come to my party and bring balloons. all I remember is that I was totally and completely freaked out. I wanted nothing to do with her. I am pretty sure they sent her packing early. Little did they know, I had seen a movie with clowns that scared me. I have not been fond of clowns since that day.
I wish there would have been princess parties all those years ago! To have one of my heroines come to one of may parties would have meant the world to me. Princesses aren't what they used to be.. spoiled girls stuck in a tower. They are positive role models for young girls. They don't judge a book by its cover, they pursue their dreams, serve unselfishly, and are kind to everybody.
Before your princess party, have your child watch the film of their favorite princess. This will get them excited when she knocks at the door and open them up to a learning and positive experience.
